BRICKYARD CROSSING, WHITTLESEY.

This is an occupation situated east of Whittlesea Station, at the top of the bank down to Eastrea Road AHB. Access to it is from the Whittlesey - Benwick road, about 1 mile out of town. It is reached along a farm track with a very steep incline as, unusually for the Fens, the crossing is on an embankment! To the west, the shot is excellent, to the east a little near to the top of the bank but okay if restricted. Whenever I have been there, I have had company as a weasel lives under the crossing boards and loves bits of sandwich.

What Ho? A gipsy camped on railway land? No, it's me pretending to be intellectual - the woolly hat on a baking hot day is to keep the midges out of my hair - send me crazy!
